I'm born and brought up here in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, India. Kolkata, previously known as Calcutta, was the capital of India during the British domination period, till 1947. The city is more than three hundred years old, by the side of river Ganges, and built by the Britishers, mainly. Very rich cultural and historical heritage can be easily identified in older part of Kolkata, in buildings, roads, pavements and even in railings. there are many historical iconic in the city itself. The grater Kolkata which is extension of original older Kolkata is on the other hand is like most of the modern cities.
