Trip Details

Originally, I have been to several stunning locations in the world as a devoted traveler. Out of these, though, Iceland has been quite the following; not many places have ever sent me to my senses that much.

Iceland, the island country located on the northwestern corner of Europe and the most western part of the mainland continent, is a place of stark contrasts and extreme natural features that are out of this world and never stop inspiring visitors.

In this article, I will share my list of five of the most scenic spots in Iceland.

I think these unique places will dazzle you with the impressiveness of nature if you give them a chance to host you on your holiday trip.

1. Reykjavik: The Vibrant Capital

So, we are on our first stop in Reykjavik, the northernmost and smallest capital of the earth. Despite its small size, Reykjavik is a culture and creativity center. During my stroll along the shining streets, I could feel the comfortingly warm atmosphere of the place indirectly, and the unique combination of modern and traditional architecture was so unique and thus catchy.

A list of attractions in Reykjavik has been established and the following are the names with some information about the places:

Hallgrimskirkja Church: This downtown symbol provides with all aerial vistas on the city's roofs down to the streets below.

Harpa Concert Hall: The striking harmony of ocean and opera music imposed by the modernists off the lake's eastern edge is stunning and a good example of modern architecture.

Sun Voyager: Employments in science, progress, and the inclusion of love are stylized through the beauty of the metal sculpture also called "Sun Voyager" in the artist\'s mind.

National Museum of Iceland: It is a place that is full of activities, where not only can you spend the entire weekend but also enjoy learning about the rich history, and the local culture of Iceland.

2. The Golden Circle: Nature's Trifecta

Golden Circle Trail, on the other hand, is a very familiar trail route which is also very famous for its original nature-like true wonders.

What did I see? A highway that powered the collective imagination of my mind, made with Mother Nature, and I turned to the feeling: a must-see on the list of Iceland for travelers.

The Golden Circle includes:

Þingvellir: Þingvellir, the fissure between two tectonic plates that marks the inception of the democratic system and is rendered in UNESCO National Park.

Geysir: The main attraction here is a geyser called Strokkur which spews water into the air every 5 minutes.

Gullfoss: This beautiful and powerful site has been the setting of many romance novels and fairy tales, including the novel "Icelandic Skylights" by M.D. Sullivan.

3. The Blue Lagoon: Geothermal Wonder

And, surely, I couldn't forget to mention the world-famous Blue Lagoon on an Iceland trip, this geothermal spa which the water is a blueish-white rich with minerals of silica and sulfur is known to possess.

As I was sitting in the warm water of the Blue Lagoon which is rich with minerals and surrounded by the volcanic landscape, and I was enjoying it more intensely than I ever have done before when I felt stress-free and refreshed at the same time.

A list of the Blue Lagoon items for the visitors was made, and this is it with the explanation of them. There is a swimming pool fully manufactured of the volcanic "Icelandic Concrete" and you can get a readymade mask made of silica with the purpose of doing it a few more times.

4. Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon: A Frozen Paradise

Iceland's southeastern part is best known for the mesmerizing sight without compare of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in Iceland that I will surely keep it in my memory the rest of my life. The lagoon owes its glaciervenice aspect to the icebergs that have broken off from Breiðamerkurjökull, which is the neighboring glacier. The dislike of the blue ice for the asylum of the sea allows it to produce such an image of a landscape that is of the everlastingly otherworldly characters.

Some activities to be done at Jökulsárlón are listed and explained here with the provided details. They have boat tours. This can be your ultimate driving spot not only with the guides but also by self-exploration.

After the snow has been slowly disappearing from the surrounding area, the summer months are the best time to see the overflowing of the river by the ice chunks coming from the glacier. The lagoon with feel playful with the seals creates a great spot for the photographer.

5. Vatnajökull National Park: Europe's Largest Glacier

14% of this country's area is occupied by the largest ice cap in Europe, which is also a "my" when I go through it tavtovillA in National Park which is located in the northern part of Iceland, was one of my most memorable experiences during which I tried a variety of different activities as the area is composed of different ecosystems and has seen periodicals of distinct natural phenomena. [The next two are optional.

Highlights of Vatnajökull National Park are introduced and detailed explanations are provided for each. The park is, among others, a favorite among the hikers, thus, it has trails which lead to a waterfall here from to the glacier point view.

A tourist (guider) will take you deep into the ice coves with blue ice that spellbinding/are magnetic (winter only). Have you ever imagined Svartifoss as a black crowded rodent with all the granite blocks, as Svartifoss is like?

Well, this fall is the only known place where you'll ever get to witness these rocks.

The vast complex of frozen ice within the glacier park and the inconvenient access add to the uniqueness, as other destinations in the world are probably not even similar, where Arctic foxes, reindeer, and diverse bird species are also very common.

Conclusion

Though I and my fellow explorer experienced the unique charm of Iceland when the nature of wonder was impressively displayed at these spots just being the tip of the Icelandic iceberg making the country increasingly popular deservedly, I only got a glimpse of the marvelous diversity and beautiful naturalness of the country.

From the mainly bought and sold hot spots of Reykjavik to the realm that the melting ice release of Vatnajökull expose to, I must say, Iceland is a very enchanting let alone varying land that will consume your heart and mind. Whatever it is that you want on sightseeing tours you can easily find in Iceland. You better believe it! Venice was awesome too. However, since my first breathtaking midnight sun spectacle on a beach in Norway, another part of the world seeking to explore was Morocco. Time has come for Amsterdam to join the club. Kindly stop everything else and travel to Iceland for a change of location; or perhaps well-being.

Try witnessing the magic, Iceland transmits to a person, yourself. Whether you get to know the pounding waterfall, dip in the hot springs, or see the old ice seem like the mountains could walk, you will by then have discovered how enchanting the rich island has become. You are going to see Iceland not only as a destination but rather as a place where life happens—and it will literally make you feel like living.
