Hey! This is my first trip to Thailand, so I am doing a mix of the well and less tread trails.
The itinerary is flexible at this point.
But I am thinking a couple days each in Bangkok, Chiang Rai, Khao Sok and Koh Samui. Will do the latter beaches first, as the monsoon ebbs in the North and Andaman and flares in the Gulf around October.
Open to switching eg. Khao Sok with Khao Yai.
Current itinerary:
Hop on the Chao Phraya and visit 2-3 major Wats and the Grand Palace.
Eccentric Bangkok spots like Chocolate Ville or a bike ride around the botanical gardens.
Riding the BTS skytrain, bowling at Siam Paragon.
Surat Thani › Koh Samui (by fast ferry) › Beach day, Ang Thong Marine Park and amazing view from the Jaras viewpoint, snorkelling and kayaking.
Surat Thani › Khao Sok village and National Park waterfall treks. (Although tapirs are rare, we might attempt that trail)
Cheow Lan › longboat ride amidst limestone karsts, lake rafthouse stay and boat safaris.
Chiang Rai › Wat Rong Khun, Wat Rong Suea Ten, Baan Dam (White, blue and black temples).
If we switch to Khao Yai, we can visit cool spots like Banmai Chaynam in addition to the Park trails (spot gibbons and Sunbear)
Whether you are a local or travelling at the same time, it'd awesome to connect and share plans and see if we can travel together for a bit!
