I'm planning to hike the Fraser Island Great Walk July 2nd through 8th. This walk is consistently rated as one of the best multi-day hikes in the world. It traverses interesting ecosystems of unique flora and fauna with beautiful lakes. There are campsites that can be used along the way but we will have to carry all of our food and be completely self-sufficient in remote areas. Previous multi-day bushwalking experience is recommended.
I've already checked prices for transfers to and from the trailheads. It is $200 (AUD) from Hook Pt. to Happy Valley to the start of the track. This cost would be divided amongst those joining (2-4 people). Camp sites cost $6.35 per night for six nights.
Here is the itinerary:
July 2 - Inskip Pt -> Ferry to Island -> Taxi to Happy Valley -> Walk to Lake Garawongera (CAMP)
July 3 - Lake Garawongera to Valley of Giants (CAMP)
July 4 - Valley of Giants to Lake Wabby (CAMP)
July 5 - Lake Wabby to Central Station (CAMP)
July 6 - Central Station to Lake Benaroon (CAMP)
July 7 - Lake Benaroon to Jabiru Swamp (CAMP)
July 8 - Jabiru Swamp to Inskip Point Ferry back to Rainbow Beach
