Hi there! I'm Char.
I'm a semi-grounded digital nomad and entrepreneur who's always on the go. I'm currently based in Baguio, PH but I'm always on the lookout for new adventures! I love meeting new people and making friends, so Couchsurfing has been a great way for me to connect with people all over the world. I've met with so many amazing people—people who have become lifelong friends and helped me see things in a new light.
I'm always looking for new places to visit and meet new people while I'm there, so if you're interested in chatting over a cup of coffee or grabbing a drink sometime, let's get in touch!
===WHO I WANT TO MEET====
I love meeting new people and learning about how they see the world. I've had some amazing experiences just from exploring the world, and I'm excited to keep having more. The best part is that it's all about making connections with other people—it's not about the destinations or the sights.
I love hearing about other people's stories, and I love being able to share my own stories with others. It's a great way to learn more about the world and how different cultures live! I think it's important to get out of your comfort zone and experience new things. If you're not willing to do that, then you'll never know how amazing this planet can be.
===INTERESTS===
I always wanted to travel around the world. I was born in a small highland town called Baguio in the Philippines, it's not that big, but it has a lot of history and culture that makes it very special for me. There are many things to do around here: you can go for a walk through a pine trail or visit the museum near the city center; you can also go shopping at one of the malls or just hang out with your friends at some pub or cafe.
When I was a kid, my mom gifted me a book about the different countries of the world and ever since, I was mesmerized by how much the world has to offer. My dream has always been to travel around the world and see all these beautiful places that I have read so much about, but never had the chance to see them firsthand because they're too far away from us (or maybe we just don't have enough money).
This is the story of how I started traveling.
It all started in 2016, when I was introduced to plane tickets. Ever since then, I've been traveling anywhere whenever I can. I've been everywhere, mostly in Asian countries where I can travel with my third-world passport (which means that it's pretty difficult to access other countries for us).
===MUSIC, MOVIES, BOOKS===
I'm a huge fan of fantasy and adventure novels, so when I first saw J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" movies, I was blown away. They were one of the most visually astonishing films ever made, and they had all the elements of a great fantasy adventure: suspenseful storylines, lively characters, and scary monsters.
I like to read books in this genre because they're so much fun to get lost in—you can imagine yourself walking through Middle Earth right alongside Frodo Baggins or Bilbo Baggins!
I love a huge dose of thriller, mystery, suspense, and horror too—just like any "normal" person!
===ONE AMAZING THING I'VE DONE===
I'm a bit of a daredevil, and I love adventure a lot. If you're looking for a travel buddy who can hold their own in the face of some pretty scary challenges, I'm your girl! Here are some examples of my crazy-cool travel achievements:
- Dislocated my right shoulder the first time I conquered my fears of height through cliff-diving (and lived to tell the tale)
- Hiked a mountain in a foreign country, solo.
