Corine's Bio
Corine Broomberg studied Drama at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. She started her acting career by working with Dr Benoni deHaeck for the Breughel Theatre Group, where she was in charge of the running of a Puppet Show Program for Primary Schools in the Western Cape. The Breughel Theatre Group also raised funds to build a Community Hall in Cloetesville, Stellenbosch.
Corine lived in Zambia and Tanzania from 1996, and returned to South Africa in 2002, settling in Johannesburg. Since then she has made appearances in South African television programmes such as Phat Joe, Sewende Laan, Jozi Streets, Isidingo, Angel’s Song, Binnelanders, Font and The Lab. She played the role of Dr Melanie Wilson in a local soap opera Generations. Corine appeared as Elzette Beukes in Home Affairs Series 2 and 4, opposite Johan van der Merwe and Therese Benade. She also appeared in Villa Rosa as Magriet Pretorius opposite Lieb Bester. She is currently playing the role of Ms Odendaal on SkeemSaam.
Corine’s first love is theatre and she performed in A Little Pride and Prejudice, Overruled and Amlet/Hamlet House, all of these directed by Ingrid Wylde, at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival. She also performed in the acclaimed play, Hedda Gabler, directed by Andre Stolz, for the KKNK and Aardklop Festivals in 2006. She performed in Die Waarseer, directed by Ellizma Badenhorst and Neels Clasen in 2015 as well as in My Japan, directed by Andre Stolz, in 2016 and 2017.
Corine can be seen in International Productions Uncle Max and Winnie, and in local movies Straight outta Benoni, Hond se Dinges, Superhelde and Dear Betty.
Corine is currently the National Executive Administrator for the South African Guild of Actors (SAGA). She also serves on the National Executive Committee of UASA-The Union.
